For anyone who's endured a Savannah Summer, you know that a good, reliable, and responsive air conditioner is not a luxury, it's a necessity. Growing up in Savannah, it seems like every Summer is hotter than the last.

I know that it's only February, but something in my mind is telling me to prepare for another hot one. Maybe it was the scene that played out last August on a crazy Thursday afternoon that makes me more cautious than normal.

Each year, more than 130 children die from falls, and 2,500,000 are treated for injuries in emergency rooms.

Accidents are the leading causes of death and disability among children and young adults age 14 and under.

Not wearing bicycle helmets, improper use of electrical appliances by adults, young children playing with fire and unintentional poisonings are just a few of the hazards waiting to hurt children in the place where they should be the safest -- their homes.

I wasn't expecting much when I heard about Savannah's first annual Geekend 2009. Granted, I work for the oldest online marketing and web development company in Savannah -- Systems Connect, Inc -- and I am pretty geeky myself, but I wasn't looking forward to boring lectures about Google algorhythems, Graphic Design techniques and people making more money than me off of social networking and blogging techniques.

Dancing, drinking, music, art, tasty food and ecstatic conversation encompassed the Young Professionals of Savannah's celebration of their 4th year in operation over at Sol.

Having officially formed back in 2005 YPS provides a niche outlet for young professionals and entrepreneurs to come together and network, mutually benefiting from each other's ideas and services. YPS continued to demonstrate their growing legacy of local support and involvement with a celebration doubling as a fund raiser.

The markets don’t always behave the way we’d like them to: Geopolitical turmoil, natural disasters, interest rates and world events can have a profound effect on market movements. If recent market volatility has you concerned about the economy, you are not alone; this is a confusing time for many investors.
