Gallery Espresso: A Hip Paradise for Caffeine Junkies and Winos

Situated on Bull St. and Perry St. across from Chippewa Square is Savannah, Georgia’s very own hipster hang out – Gallery Espresso. A quiet, relaxing spot where folks can grab some of the most amazing coffees, teas and wines in the city whilst grazing on humus, BLTs, delicious desserts and pastries or other light fair all the while surfing high speed Internet and chatting with friends.

Gallery Espresso is a prime location for getting a little work done or for meeting with friends, family or co-workers. Any hour of the day there will be a business meeting going on over coffee, a couple playing chess outside, a few people sipping slowly on wine while reading a book in the evening or SCAD students mulling over their most beloved or hated professors.

With a big, wide-open inside area complete with hardwood floors and a variety of seating, there is always plenty of room to either be by yourself and enjoy the quiet serenity of Gallery Espresso or meet with a group.

In addition, Gallery Espresso is incredibly well known for its rotating art exhibitions all by local artists. It’s a fantastic place to find new talent and I’ve personally never seen an art exhibition there that I was not intrigued by.

The staff is always eager to please and there are lots of little tea-drinking related knick-knacks for sale such as teacups and dishes, silverware, teapots and more. If you would like to take Gallery Espresso’s coffee concoctions or yummy tea times home with you feel free to purchase their variety of roasted coffee beans or tins of tea leaves.

Aside from Gallery Espresso’s fantastic light food, coffee and tea they also have a formidable wine list (my favorite is Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc). You can purchase wine by the glass or by the bottle and they will always serve you no matter where you are (inside or outside). Buying a bottle of wine is the most economical choice and most bottles will run you between $19 and $28. If you’re with a group of people, it’s a perfect set up. They’ll bring your wine out either chilled in a bucket of ice or plane with beautiful wine glasses.

Gallery Espresso is one of those great relaxing spots where you can really enjoy everything that makes Savannah the city that it is. Locals primarily frequent it and most people know each other. You can relax, work, talk or just stare off into space. At Gallery Espresso, “friends don’t let friends drink Starbucks” and, when you’re there, you wouldn’t even think of going to that franchise again.
