Author Christopher Scott was at E. Shaver's Book Sellers Tuesday evening signing copies of his first work of fiction, "Choke Point".
I wasn't expecting much when I heard about Savannah's first annual Geekend 2009. Granted, I work for the oldest online marketing and web development company in Savannah -- Systems Connect, Inc -- and I am pretty geeky myself, but I wasn't looking forward to boring lectures about Google algorhythems, Graphic Design techniques and people making more money than me off of social networking and blogging techniques.
Dancing, drinking, music, art, tasty food and ecstatic conversation encompassed the Young Professionals of Savannah's celebration of their 4th year in operation over at Sol.
Having officially formed back in 2005 YPS provides a niche outlet for young professionals and entrepreneurs to come together and network, mutually benefiting from each other's ideas and services. YPS continued to demonstrate their growing legacy of local support and involvement with a celebration doubling as a fund raiser.
The kick-off party to the 2009 Tybee Island Pirate Festival was filled with everything a good pirate loves -- roasted pig, fresh seafood, sexy wenches, plenty of grog and...sparklers?
The Buccaneer's Ball took place at The Crab Shack on Tybee Island. A fitting setting for any self respecting pillager. There was music, the 2009 pirate king and queen were announced and a costume contest.
Let's see what else Pirate Fest 2009 has in store. I'll be there, will you?
Interview with Dana Snyder -- Voice of Master Shake from Adult Swim's Aqua Teen Hunger Force. He was also on Saul of The Mole Men, the voice of the monk from Venture Brothers and the voice of the grandmother in Squidbillies.
The 2009 Savannah Jazz Festival kick-off jam session at Blowin' Smoke BBQ was one of the most delightful Sunday aftrnoons I've ever experienced. You can't beat cold beer, a cool, breezy Sunday and even cooler jazz.
Enjoy the pictures and keep the blue lights on because the Jazz festival is far from over. Head out to Forsyth Park Thursday, September 24th through Satureday, September 26th for three full back-to-back evenings of jazz. Bring your launch chair, crack open your favorite cold one and enjoy one of the best festival Savannah has to offer.
When Dannet from Salon Jolie told me about the art show that was going to take place Satureday, September 19, 2009 over at the salon she was very excited and so was I for that matter. It was to be Eric Frazier, a local artist who apparently had a lot to offer. So, I agreed to cover the event.
The 7th Annual Savannah International Food & Wine Festival was a site to see, taste and drink right up. It took place Saturday, September 12, 2009 at the St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church Hellenic Center off Anderson St. in order to benefit many local, regional and national charities of the Greek Ladies Orthodox Philoptochos Society as well as their local scholarship fund.
