The Annual Thrift Sale is a primary source of funding for the Junior League - All of the proceeds from the sale are returned to the community through Junior League community improvement projects.
"We know people are struggling with the economy right now and this is our way of helping them out. People can come shop and get great things for themselves or others; some may even pick up a few early Christmas gifts," says Carey Fredrich, 2009 Thrift Sale Chair. "We have so many different items - everyone is sure to find something."
All of the net proceeds go directly into the community through a combination of League-sponsored volunteer projects and community grants. The Junior League's current focus area is Women and Children's Advocacy. The Junior League of Savannah believes that women and children deserve to be empowered through quality opportunities in order to thrive and to be contributing members of our community. These opportunities should develop the whole person socially, emotionally, physically as well as academically. We are currently partnering with a number of local organizations such as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Interfaith Hospitality Network and the Oatland Island Wildlife Center.
