Ever find yourself in a situation where you just can’t muster up the ability to get moving? Don’t sweat it; many people do and it’s truly no wonder with the hustle and bustle of everyday life that sometimes we lack the longevity to move our bodies.
No need to fret; there are ways to overcome your inability to get out of bed, sneak in a lunchtime workout or find the time after a day’s work is done. So the next time you feel like sleeping in and skipping the workout, staying longer in the staffroom or heading home instead of hitting the trail why not toy with the idea of trying some helpful motivational tactics on for size and allow their art of persuasion to coerce you into the advancement of your goals. Below you will find 10 suggestions that promote movement and do a body good.
1. Find a workout buddy to move with you. Having someone along for the ride makes it easier to stick to your plan and work toward your health and wellness goals.
2. Schedule in your workouts at the beginning of the week for the entire week and make dates with your exercise partners. It is harder to back out when others are waiting on you.
3. Pre-book your exercise classes and pay in advance. You will be less apt to blow off your workouts if you have shelled out your hard earned dollars prior to the event.
4. Remember that the gym isn’t your only option to add movement into your life. Get outside, join a team, or purchase a video. It doesn’t really matter what you do; just move.
5. Remember that whatever movement you choose or however much time you have, everything adds up to you feeling better for the effort even if it is just 20 minutes.
6. Bring your music along for the journey. Studies show that people who use music as a workout tool exercise for a longer period of time and depending on the tempo of the music it can also increase your intensity and ward off boredom.
7. Make sure you engage your body in something you enjoy. The bottom line is if you don’t like what you are doing for physical fitness you are not going to do it for long.
8. Ditch the excuses, get over them, push them aside and accept nothing less than your best effort.
9. Dress for success. Go shopping for new workout gear. Look the part and flirt with your successful future in style.
10. Just get started and don’t look back. Don’t evaluate your workouts, don’t judge your performance, it doesn’t matter how you did just that you did it. Don’t sweat the small stuff.
We all know there’s no effortless way to produce the results we desire. There’s no pill, no potion, no amount of money that can buy you life contentment; it’s all about you and your actions.
